Hindu Youth Camps 2010

 

Thinking about which Summer Camp to send your kids to? Would you like them to learn about Hindu culture and values, the fundamentals of Hinduism, prayers, Hindu festivals, arts and crafts, yoga and Indian musical instruments in a fun and friendly atmosphere?

Radha Madhav Society is offering three youth camps this summer - Atlanta GA, Richmond VA and Toronto, Canada. Send your kids to one or more of these youth camps for six days of learning in a fun way. The camps are for children 5 to 15 years of age and will be guided by Siddheshvari Devi Ji.

Schedule

What will children learn at the camp?

Your child will enjoy the following in the camp:
  1. Learning Prayers and Bhajans
  2. Learning what it means to be a Hindu
  3. Fun-filled celebration of Hindu festivals
  4. Learning basics of Vedic philosophy
  5. Yoga Postures & Breathing Exercises
  6. Chance to learn how to play Harmonium, Indian drum and cymbals
  7. Games that are played in India, such as Cricket, Pitthu, Kho-Kho, and Kabaddi
  8. Arts and crafts, dancing, Rangoli, Mehndi, Tye-Dye and acting
  9. Outdoor sankeertan and picnic
  10. Participation in a cultural program
  11. Friendship of fellow children with similar values
  12. Guidance of loving and caring volunteer teachers

Classes offered at the camp

Core classes offered to youth (10-15 yr old):
  1. Daily Prayer, Aartis, Shlokas, Chaupais
  2. Who am I - My true Introduction
  3. Introduction to Hindu Scriptures
  4. How to answer questions about Hinduism
  5. Science and Spirituality
  6. Effort vs. Destiny

Core classes offered to the little ones (5-9 yr old):
  1. Daily Prayer
  2. How to Pray?
  3. Good Behavior
  4. Radha Krishna Stories

Besides the core classes, each student will select one of the following optional classes. Each class is limited to about 10 to 12 students. View details of each class.

  2. Harmonium
  3. Rangoli
  4. Dance
  5. Acting/Skit
  6. Art/Drawing
  7. Tye Dye
  8. Singing

The youth attendees will select one of the following educational classes. Again, each class is limited to about 12 to 15 students. View details of each class.
  1. Story Writing
  2. Math Champ
  3. The Big Deal about Yoga
  4. Fun With Food

Accompanying parents can participate in bhajan sessions, lecture sessions, yoga, and question-answer sessions with Didi Ji.

How much is the registration fee?

The registration fee for children of members and non-members are listed below. Please note that up to two adults can accompany the children at no extra charge. However, in Toronto, due the limited space, only the children registered for the camp and one accompanying parent for a child in the 5-9 yr age group will be allowed to stay overnight. The other adults are welcome to leave at night and come back the next morning to participate in the activities.

For non-members
Early registration (up to April 30, 2010)
US$300/1 child, US$500/2 or more children from the same family.

Regular Registration (after April 30, 2010)
US$325/1 child, US$550/2 or more children from same family.

For life members
Life members get 20% discount on the above mentioned registration fees.

At least one parent is required to attend the entire camp for a child in the 5-9 yr age group.

Last year we had to turn down several people because the number of registrations far exceeded our expectations. You are encouraged to register early to reserve your spot.

How to register?

To register, fill out the online registration form (or click the Register button) and pay your registration fee online when asked using credit card via Paypal. Registration is not considered confirmed until registration fee is paid.

If you cancel your reservation by May 15th, 50% of your registration fee will be refunded to you. Registration fees are non-refundable after May 15th.
