Eye Camp, March 12-15

Eye Camp organized by Jagadguru Kripalu Chikitsalay, MangarhJagadguru Kripalu Chikitsalay, Mangarh, in association with Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Nepal, have organised a 4-Day Cataract Surgical Workshop from March 12 to 15 at Bhakti Dham, Mangarh. Approximately 800 patients are expected to gain clear vision back during this free workshop. Every year, Jagadguru Kripalu Chikitsalay, Mangarh organizes two cataract workshops for the poor and underprivileged residents in and around Kunda. These workshops have been going on since the hospital was inaugurated in November 2003. 

March 11 - Admission for the 4-Day Cataract Surgical Workshop began in the morning at JKC Mangarh. 

Day 1: March 12 - The camp was inaugurated by the JKP Presidents. Doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers are serving the patients with enthusiasm. 307 patients were operated on to remove cataract from their eyes.

Day 2: March 13 - 300 patients were operated on today. 306 patients have also been admitted for tomorrow's operation, while the 307 patients from yesterday have been discharged with medicines and black sunglasses for protection.

Day 3: March 14 - 362 operations were done today. 279 patients have also been admitted for tomorrow, the forth and final day of the 4-Day workshop. The 300 patients from yesterday were also discharged today. So far, a total of 969 free cataract surgeries have been completed by the great team of doctors.

Day 4: March 15 - On the fourth and final day of the workshop, a total of 150 cataract surgeries were done. One patient with Pterygium was also operated on.

This brought the total for the 4-Day workshop to 1119 cataract surgeries (1120 including the Pterygium operation).
