Holiday season is upon us, and there is a lot of talk about going home for the holidays, and having family gather at home.  People become very emotional about 'home' even though 'home' may mean a tiny apartment or a rundown house.  If you make the house into a home, family and friends will want to gather there.

House is a physical building made of concrete, stone and mortar.  Home is a place of love and acceptance.  House is where you put your belongings.  Home is where you get a sense of belonging.  House may be a 15-million-dollar mansion and yet undesirable.  Home may not be worth a lot of money, yet it is precious.

At this time of the year, many people are feeling the stress of being far from home and family, or of not having a home or a family.  I am not speaking of strangers; these are your friends, acquaintances, family members and co-workers.  Put out the welcome mat for them not just to enter your house, but your home.

If you do not know any such person, may I suggest visiting the elderly in a nursing home, or paying a visit to the hospital.  There are people who cannot come to your home.  So, take a feeling of 'home' to them.  There are so many who would love to have your company.  Make this holiday season a season of giving, not just tangible gifts, but intangible gifts such as a friendly smile and your precious time.

Happy Holidays!

Yours,
