Decide this month what you intend to do for these 31 days. Think about what’s important to you, and what you can discard from your life. Reflect on what stresses you out. Is it very important, or can you cut it out of your daily schedule?

This is your year to insist on a peaceful mind. Don’t get rattled by demands from family and friends. Stop reacting. Take time out to breathe. There’s no need to give an answer to every question. You don’t have to fulfill every request. Don’t put that burden on yourself. Don’t hesitate to say ‘no’ politely but firmly.

This year you need to take care of yourself first. One of the preflight announcements reminds passengers to put on their oxygen mask in case of emergency before assisting others. This principle applies to life in general. The first one you need to take care of is you. When you are physically and mentally healthy, you can take care of others.

This is your year to enjoy the sun and the sand, or snow, sleet and rain. Enjoy the various aspects of Mother Nature. Learn from the Danish people the concept of ‘hygge.’ (Look it up) Allow yourself to relax and have peaceful moments. Create moments of great joy by taking time out for little pleasures of life. This is your year to dream big. Cast off your self-doubts. Dare to believe in yourself. Have the courage to believe that if you can dream it, you can do it.
