I read about a lady who was a wonder woman in the eyes of her immediate and extended family. She seemed to handle her family life, her career, and all her duties and responsibilities effortlessly. Never complained. Never protested. Never expressed how stressed she was. Never admitted she had any problem. Even her husband did not know that she was a secret drinker. He found out only after she died in a car crash which she caused, and in which many small children died along with her. After the crash, an empty bottle of alcohol was found in the vehicle. An autopsy discovered that her blood alcohol was more than double the legal limit. Her husband was in a state of shock. He had no idea that his wife was coping with her challenging life with the help of alcohol and marijuana.

This is a horrific case scenario of someone who is in denial and who is trying to make it look like she can handle it all. Don’t let this happen to you. If you are feeling stressed, talk about it. Do tell someone you trust about your anxieties and your concerns. There is no shame in asking for help. There is no embarrassment in admitting that you are not perfect. No one is. The moment you share your burden, you will feel lighter. A sense of relief will wash over you.

So, go ahead and be genuine. Admit it! You are not Wonder Woman or Super Man. These are fictional characters. You are a real human with real challenges and responsibilities. Life is difficult. You get an A for effort, as long as you are true to yourself.
